Description

Firm foam is the whole point. A soft bed lets paws sink, so standing up means climbing out of a hole; a firm slab stays level and gives something to push against. Raised sides to lean into, a non-slip bottom, and a cover that comes off for the wash over a waterproof liner.

Care Instructions

Unzip the cover and machine wash it. Air dry rather than tumble, so it keeps its fit over the foam. The foam core itself doesn't go in the wash; spot-clean it if it ever needs it.

Why firm foam instead of a plush pillow bed?
A soft bed feels lovely until it's time to get up: paws sink, and standing takes real effort. Firm foam gives a stable push-off surface, so getting up is easier, and the non-slip bottom keeps the bed from scooting during the attempt. For a dog that lies down and gets up many times a day, that matters more than plushness.
Will the foam flatten over time?
Fast-flattening is the most common complaint with beds in this category, which is why this one uses a thick slab of foam, 6 to 8 inches depending on size, rather than loose fill, which is what flattens and bunches fastest. Like any foam, it will soften somewhat over years of use.
What happens if there's an accident on the bed?
The cover is removable and machine washable, and it's lined with a waterproof layer that keeps liquids from soaking into the foam underneath.
